CH162

Sofas from Carl Hansen & Søn, Designed by Hans J. Wegner

Product description

Concept

SHARP DESIGN WITH A SOFT LOOK
Upholstered cushions filled with down were an innovative feature when Hans J. Wegner designed his modern living room in 1965. The soft cushions render the otherwise stringent design less formal. The construction of the legs is a prime example of how Wegner didn’t overdose on the details: The leg itself has four straight sides, but up towards the armrest the front widens out, creating a triangle. In the centre of this triangle there is an enlarged wooden plug, which is not only elegant, but also conceals a screw which makes the work of the upholsterer considerably easier. Brilliant, beautiful and practical – and thus typically Wegner. The range is made of oak, walnut and ash in various finishes, and the upholstery come in countless colours and textures.
