The Carpet TG1 Velvet is a hand-tufted carpet, each one produced individually in Germany. With a tufting pistol, the pile is tufted through a hollow needle into the fabric, working from the back of the support fabric. The pile yarn is out of new pure wool with a pile weight 3000g/m2 with 540,000 neps /m2 and measuring 1.0cm in height. To maintain consistency in pile formation, the carpet is sheared after tufting – in other words loops that stick out are cropped off evenly with a shearing blade. The alternating processes of brushing and shearing give that special surface quality to the Carpet TG1 Velvet.
