Caldaro Village re-design

Path lights from ewo, Designed by Conceptlicht

Product description

The architect responsible for the circumspect redesign of the town of Caldaro, in the midst of the vineyards of the Alto Adige region of South Tyrol, was Walter Angonese, a native son. Along with the town itself, he insisted on a specifically produced solution that respected and emphasized the special character of the locality. Angonese described the lighting fixtures that were developed here as “luminaires that enter into a symbiosis through their function, form and the material used.”

The trapezoidal shape of the fixtures represents a form that functions both when mounted on a pole as well as directly on the wall. It is, however, the surface that really provides the luminaires with their special character: architectural bronze was used. This material does not so much wear out over time but, instead, improves. It gradually takes on a greenish patina and only reveals its true beauty over the course of decades. In this sense, it resembles the character of the village.
