Berling and Byggvir are sophisticated and opulent fabrics, featuring an unusually soft touch and finish, which fit perfectly into any contemporary setting.
Made with a warp in cotton and constructed from worsted yarn in a satin binding, these fabrics are extremely comfortable and tactile. The surface of the fabrics is a blend of wool, polyester and polyamide, with the last two materials providing extra durability and strength.
Fanny Aronsen has used three different coloured yarns to make a tone-in-tone effect with a striée look. This results in finely lined stripes, which give the fabrics a lively appearance. Both feature stripes, which are woven in a contrasting thicker chenille yarn. The combination of the shiny chenille yarn and matt wool makes it appear as though the stripes are floating on the background. Byggvir offers solid stripes, whilst Berling features irregular broken stripes.
They share the same palette of 8 versatile colours, in which classical and contemporary shades of elegant black, midnight blue, elephant grey and snow white are complemented by fashionable shades of heather, aubergine and light green. These colours also match the plain fabric Balder.
Like all FANNYARONSEN fabrics, Berling and Byggvir combine innovation, subtle intuition and premium quality materials, while seamlessly fitting in with the rest of the collection. As a result, the possibilities for customisation and self-expression are virtually infinite.
Fanny Aronsen’s trademark is tactile fabrics and intriguing, colourful designs. The juxtaposition of her Scandinavian heritage and international experience is a theme often reflected in her work. Clues to her Nordic history and cultural background can often be found in her designs but, ultimately, her work transcends all borders.
Now working from her studio in Stockholm, she has lived and worked in Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam for many years. She is a Professor in Textile Design at the University of Stockholm, where she lectures at the renowned Konstfack – University College of Arts, Crafts and Design.
Fanny Aronsen has received several awards for her designs, including the German Rote Punkt, the Swedish Utmärkt Svensk Form and the Dutch Mobila Innovative Prijs and Goed Industrieel Ontwerp.
