Balder Upholstery fabric
This is Balder – Warm and Welcoming
At first glance Balder looks like a plain fabric, but looking more closely you will see an interesting fine striped effect, giving the fabric a very special character. To make Balder really smooth it is woven with a cotton warp with a covering yarn using a blend of 92% worsted wool and 8% polyamide in the weft. The texture is a satin weave which, in combination with the yarn, gives the fabric a natural brilliance. The striped effect is the result of using several shades of yarn colours woven in a specific order. The colour palette was updated in 2007, so Balder is now available in 36 different colours, including dusky pink, olive green and burgundy, thus perfectly matching the multicoloured striped Björg and the two-coloured block striped Brage and Bestla. Whether used on its own or in combination with other fabrics, Balder radiates warmth and leaves a welcoming impression.
In Nordic mythology, Balder is the god of light – kind and helpful. He is considered to be the most handsome of them all and is admired by everyone.
