The rope is plaited round the box frame entirely by hand. Some 650 metres of special, cotton-clad acrylic rope are needed for each chair. The irregular weave, built up by perfected manual skills over several days’ work, forms the padding and covers. Its metal frame is coated with epoxy powders.
