In the year 1948 Zanuso designed the furniture for the opera “Antropus family”, on the stage at “Piccolo Teatro” in Milan. Using “gommapiuma” made by Pirelli, he produced the armchair Antropus, which name is derived from the theatre opera : ANTROPUS.
It is one of the beautiful armchairs that Marco Zanuso drew for Arflex among the years Forty and Fifty. You immediately distinguishes for the development in depth, that gives form to an ample and comfortable session. The lines are soft and delicate. The side panels that constitute the sides of Antropus create the support for the arms and they slightly raise above the back, that reaches a height of 85 cms. This historical piece of the Italian design presents itself in its external homogeneity: the structure in wood is entirely dressed again with the expanded (more known as gommapiuma) polyurethan: arflex most favourite and promoted material in those years within the domestic furnishings, with all of his expressive potentialities, ergonomic and in industrial production. An appropriate intuition, that of Arflex, that has introduced the employment of innovative materials to good results and has made wellknown in the world the quality and the value of the italian production.
Solid wood structure with stress-resistant, differentiated density polyurethane foam. Springing by means of reinforced elastic straps. Unremovable covers.
