Art is, many a time, the best inspiration for industrial design. In this case, the Akira takes its concept from contemporary sculpture. With its intriguing shapes the lamp conveys concepts as well as visual aesthetics allowing it to trespass beyond the borders of its practical and functional use.

The Akira is more than a lamp. It is a 2 meter long lighting installation. Suspended from its upper section the lamp is allowed a freedom of movement. The structure is made of aluminium and acrylic. On one side the light passes through multiple slits in a soft haze; on the other side the light is shown in all its strength.

Its thin and rigid shape make it paradoxically flexible, therefore it does not require a large area to be assembled, making it ideal for almost any splace. The Akira is clean, strong, with its own personality, modern and elegant in its simplicity. But above all the Akira is surprising.
