When Fredericia Furniture asked Alfredo Häberli to design the Aki dining chair and table, he was well aware that facing the Danish design tradition could be a big challenge. But the concern he might have felt at the time was soon transformed into splendid design in the form of the Aki dining chair and table.
Now Alfredo Häberli has extended the Aki series with a new lounge chair based on the same design principles as the dining chair and table. The twist is the rotation of the legs, which keep the chair very staple. As the dining chair, a narrow piece of wood defines the backbone of the Aki lounge chair, flanked by soft, comfortable cushions.
“The idea was to create a unique chair with four legs. Of course, there are lots of ways to design that kind of chair, but I wanted to add a little twist. That’s why I moved the legs so that they’re positioned at a completely different angle to what we’re used to seeing,” explains Alfredo Häberli.
The Aki series consists of a lounge chair, dining table and dining table chairs available in oak or lacquered oak. The tabletop, 182 x 58, H: 38 cm in size, is covered with black linoleum and has black-painted edges. The chairs can be upholstered in fabric or leather of every colour and quality in the broad Fredericia Furniture range.
