“Her taste for pure colour brings her close to our dear friend Férnand Léger (…). He also loved colourful objects, the rough homes of the Parisian suburbs and their bistros, juke boxes, taxis in New York, all things that he never tired of describing (...). Both shared a love of simple and popular things”... With these words, the Catalan architect José Luis Sert described Charlotte Perriand’s passion for colour, an enthusiasm shared by the artists and architects that worked with her over the years, from Le Corbusier to Fernand Léger and Pierre Jeanneret. The differing colours of the five nesting tables recall a rainbow. The surfaces have a triangular shape, with rounded corners and a metal structure that seems to have been designed with a single pencil line. Created in 1951 for rooms in the university city of Antony, near Paris, but never put into production, these nesting tables can be used to create many different combinations, unfolding like petals along the arc of a circle, or in other variable arrangements.
