Garden shelves are mostly open storage elements used for gardening equipment and tools, although they can also furnish various garden sheds and shacks, and thus be protected from the elements. Most shelves in this category are straightforward designs manufactured to the highest standards.

‘Shelvish’, for instance, is a modular garden shelf made out of powder-coated aluminium poles and surfaces with brass fittings. It is manufactured by Friends & Founders and available in black, white, copper brown and bronze colours. Mats Broberg’s and Johan Ridderstråle’s ‘Garden sideboard 100’ by Rösthults is a more robust, angular shelf made from powder-coated steel. ‘Garden kitchen sink’ is a shelf from the same collection, but includes a teak top and a built-in kitchen sink. Another variation is the ‘Garden trolley’, a moving shelf with two wheels and a handle that allows for easy transport of food, drinks or gardening tools.

Weishäupl’s collection of shelves includes understated, closed sideboards made out of teak. These shelves, such as ‘Deck 2 element’, can also include a steel top and can similarly be used in an outside, summer kitchen. Santiago Sevillano’s ‘Coral Reef 9818 storage table’ for Roberti Rattan is rectangular coffee table made of two elongated compartments stacked on top of each other. The longevity of this design is ensured by its epoxy-coated aluminium construction. ‘Beton boxx’ shelves by jankurz are also incredibly weatherproof, open cubes made from concrete.

Lastly, a shelf that is meant to serve as a planter, Jörg Brachmann’s ‘vertical garden 1.20’ by Urbanature, combines a wooden frame with metal planters and forms a perfect place to grow herbs, in a garden or on any roof terrace or large balcony.
