Poufs

Poufs are ideal furnishings to complement outdoors relaxation and to extend one’s living space. Poufs are versatile and can be used as seats, side tables and footstools. Though the selection here focuses on designs that can withstand the elements, many of these would make a suitable accessories inside homes and offices too.

For instance Weishäuptl’s ‘Chill Stool large’ pouf is a plump, square cushion covered in weatherproof polypropylene fabric. Stephen Burks-designed, lightweight ‘Dala Stool’ pouf for DEDON in a robust, rounded, colourful, patterned design with a base woven from high-quality synthetic fibre. More faceted, Alain Gilles’s ‘Rock Party Pouf’ for Qui est Paul?, has a plastic base and an MDF top, which can be lifted, and the piece's hollow body can then be used as a planter.

On the more traditional end of the spectrum is Oxley’s Funrniture’s ‘Bretain Ottoman’, a pouf hat features a decorative, classical base cast from gold-coloured aluminium and supports an upholstered canvas seat; or Povl Eskildsen’s ‘Havana Deep Seating Round Ottoman’, a large, round pouf with a wicker frame and a luxurious cushion. Conversely, the thoroughly contemporary ‘Snooze | 204’ pouf, designed by Chiaramonte & Martin for EMU group, is a brightly coloured, folding product with a slim textile seat; and Patrick Norguet’s ‘Khaima Pouf’ for Driade is a long bench with an angled base made from thin metal rods.

To round it all up, Design2Chill’s ‘Rondo hocker’ pouf is for those who appreciate a combination of clean lines and an occasional curve, combined in a bulky upholstered top, supported by four steel legs.
