Leading manufacturers of designer furniture such as Vitra, Thonet and Fritz Hansen all have furniture in their collections which is aimed at a target group that is receiving increasing attention: the family with one or more children. The reason for this is that in the higher income brackets more and more money is available per child. The market for so-called children’s luxury goods is already booming. However, most designers fortunately don’t create their works on the basis of a target group or marketing analysis, but within the framework of the experiences which they have had with their own children or the children of friends. Often the furniture is created for their own use from the very start and only later finds a manufacturer ready to produce and market it. Sometimes the designs remain one-off creations. Almost every designer has designed something for children, but few of these designs become known to the wider public. Architonic intends to expand this category continuously and will in this way provide an overview of the children’s furniture of today.
