Intelligent building technology from Gira
Intelligent building technology from Gira represents future-fit technology and flexible solutions, combined with a high quality of design: automatic light control, time-dependent temperature control, distribution of music in all rooms, convenient door communication, the integration of security systems and many other functions for more comfort, security and value. A family company founded in 1905, Gira is now led in the fourth generation by Managing Partner Dirk Giersiepen. He is assisted by Oliver Borchmann, Managing Director for Innovation/Development and Alfred A. Bulitz, who also heads up the Plastics Technology business segment.
In Radevormwald, Germany, approximately 1000 employees produce switches and socket outlets as well as system components for intelligent building technology, for example devices for the KNX/EIB system. New technologies are always fused with electrical installation through the Gira design platforms to become part of the world of Gira switches. These include not only communication connections and a flush-mounted radio, but also the door communication system from Gira. In addition, the Gira product range energy and light profiles for outdoor installation. Gira products are marketed exclusively via the specialist trade and are suitable for residential and commercial construction, for new constructions, renovation and restoration.
As a founding member of the EIBA – from which the KNX Association later emerged – Gira has contributed significantly in the development of building system technology in Germany. It is the prerequisite for equipping a building "intelligently".
For architects, the name Gira represents innovative strength and product quality, as well as a myriad of prize-winning designs. For example, Gira products have repeatedly been awarded the iF product design award, red dot design award, Plus X Award and the DESIGN PLUS.
