KINZO is a young Berlin-based design firm, offering forceful solutions in architecture for brands, fit out, interior and product design.
Equipped with an award winning and futuristic design approach, KINZO has most recently been in great demand for notable clients, such as the international real estate developer Tishman Speyer and Axel Springer, one of the leading German News Corporations.
In 2008, KINZO was awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for the revolutionary office furniture system KINZO AIR. The desk system is already providing 400 workspaces for Europe’s largest Newspaper BILD and is the designated office furniture system for all 10.000 employees of the Axel Springer Corporation.
In March 2008, the world’s most important IT fair CeBIT in Hannover was opened by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy on a stage designed by KINZO. Meanwhile, a cocktail bar and restaurant in Chicago designed by KINZO was praised by the Chicago Tribune as “Club of the Year”.
KINZO is still traded as an insider’s address, even though the designers can boast a long line of international mega-brand clients, prizes and acclaim. Audi, Adidas, L’Oréal, Mango, Yahoo! and German Pay-TV operator Premiere have commissioned KINZO with brand-, exhibition- and event design worldwide.
In 2007, KINZO was awarded the German Building Research Award for a visionary illustration of relevant architectural tendencies in future societies. For the earth pledge exhibition Verdopolis New York 2005, KINZO not only realized the exhibition design but also the main exhibit: The design of a future Green City, presented as a 3-D-Animation film.
KINZO architecture was founded in 2003 by Martin Jacobs, Karim El-Ishmawi and Chris Middleton – although the 3 Partners had already co-operated on several projects dating back to 1998 under the brand name of KINZO.
Martin Jacobs is the construction expert, having received extensive training in carpentry and architectural modeling before studying architecture in Berlin, whereas Karim El-Ishmawi was able to accumulate international contacts and experience working for famous architects in Hamburg and Chicago giving him the opportunity to focus on developing innovative concepts and planning strategies together with Chris Middleton, who worked on several major projects for prominent architects in New York City and Berlin.
Complementing one another perfectly, the trio has completed a first decade of successful partnership. Currently, KINZO architecture has 5 employees and partner offices in Chicago and Seoul (formerly Shanghai) and is looking forward to an extremely promising future.
