«Switzerland has an international reputation for graphics and typography with interface art » said Harun «Shark» Dogan, the artistic director of Grafik13 who explained the international success of swiss Graphic Design. Following the successful implementation of Grafik12, which received over 6000 visitors, the exhibition Grafik13 will now take place for a second time. 100 selected graphic designers, illustrators, typographers and young artists will present their favourite work from the past twelve months at the Grafik13.

Switzerland is not only internationally known for its graphic work, but also has a huge output of high-quality work in this area. This output has increased in recent years because of the digitization and popularity of online media which is melding art and design. One of the goals of Grafik13 is therefore to present an overview of these multifaceted works to a wide audience.

Renowned Graphic Designers will show their work next to ambitious newcomers. "They should inspire and push each other," says producer Michel Pernet. But the exhibition also picks up on new ideas and ground-breaking trends, therefore the retrospective serves as well as an important and vibrant platform in the scene.

Top-class exhibitors from all parts of Switzerland

The exhibition also offers an insight into the artistic work of the exhibitors. During the three days of the exhibition various live paintings will be created. One of them is the imposing 4x7 meters big picture of the artist Frederick Rossmann alias Fredinko, which visitors are allowed to colour in. Also smaller paintings by Sam Crew, Mr. Kong, Never Crew, Fafa, Desan21, Oibelart, Rips 1, Safu, Bazk, Mazzo, Elf, Stvan, Rafael Felix Wastütü, Sipho Mabona, Annikki Rigendinger and Jonas Anelone can be seen and purchased at the exhibition. Visitors will also be able to refine garments by the artist Max Grüter as part of a performance, with the word "Niveau sans Frontières".

The Graphic-Design scene is strongly linked with the music industry. During the exhibition, in the industrial Maag halls in Zurich, various DJs will provide an atmospheric and authentic environment. Established stars such as Melchior Imboden or the Bernese Büro Destruct - who have developed a typography template especially for Grafik13 that allows each visitor to immortalize on a large art wall – will set the quality benchmark. International stars such as Tamer Köseli or the Dutch graphic design studio EDHV are also invited to the exhibition. The latter will present their project "debugged", which can use sensored insects to draw for themselves.

Albero "Sting" Russo who illustrated various CD covers, such as for the rapper Stress, or even for NBA superstars like Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant for the Nike House of Hope store opening. Amadeus Waltenspühl, the youngest member of a Graphic Design-family, who is known for its visuals for major events and his legendary live Paintings at the MTV streetart festival. Blanda Eggenschwiler who designed, among other things, for the cult label Obey, will also display her works. Kevin Högger will show his caligraphic posters. And Felix Stern will amaze the visitors with his colorful mosaic art from postage stamps.

The range of artistic works is large, offering an inspiring walk through the current Swiss graphic scene.

All the exhibitors work are also shown in the online catalogue:
