In both Nectar and Pressed Flowers, Tord Boontje has used the burn-out technique to produce two entirely different designs. In Nectar, the burn-out technique is used to emphasise a motif of red flowers and stems. There is no doubt that this is an organic pattern, despite the stripes being magnified to produce a coarse-grained, pixelated appearance. Once again, a deliberate combination of technology with nature. Pressed Flowers is a positive – negative rendition of a romantic, almost naive pattern of stylised flowers and figures.
