Ox-chair was designed by Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007). Like other pieces of furniture which are now regarded as modern classics Ox-chair was ahead of its time when it was launched in 1960. Making use of superior craftsmanship skills Wegner had created a sophisticated construction which exceeded what the production department was able to accommodate at the time. That was the reason the chair was pulled from production until 1989 when Erik Jørgensen was contacted by Hans J. Wegner in the hopes of bringing Ox-chair back to life. Today Ox-chair stands as a sculptural manifestation of the very best which Danish furniture has to offer. The result is an organic upholstered piece of furniture that presents itself to the beholder as if formed from one single block.
Ox-chair is a chair with multi purpose usage whether for contract or residential homes. The chair makes a statement with high comfort when contemporary looks yet classic lines are needed. The Ox-chair has won many prestigious awards and is exhibited worldwide.
The chair consists of fixed covers on a hand build frame made of mahogany and beech. Foam is moulded and laminated atop the frame. Covers are available in a big variety of fabrics and leather. The chair rests on a chrome steel frame. A footstool is complementary to the chair.
