Area Declic
Area Declic is an ARRMET brand, a historical factory in Friuli that has been working in the chair district of Manzano (Udine) since the 1960s. The innovative character of ARRMET has been seen since its creation: while the typical processes of the sector use wood, the company uses metal structures. The company particularly specializes in the production of chairs for schools and communities.
Since the beginning of the 1990s, ARRMET has collaborated with the world of Design, combined with major investments in the production of moulds for plastic chairs. This allowed them to acquire a know how that would characterize the years to come. Area Declic arises from the need to differentiate the ARRMET brand in order to improve market orientation. The products, tested and patented by the Catas Institute, are currently responsible for 65% of the group’s invoices.
Area Declic products are characterized by a combination of different materials: varnished or chromed steel, anodized or cast aluminium, nylon, translucent polycarbonate, coloured polypropylene, polyurethane and polyethylene, cold expanded foam, ABS, HPL (high pressure method) or ALU (with aluminium cores that are "drowned" before polycondensation) stratified laminate, multiple layers of beech or oak, fabric and leather.
The company’s base values are simplicity, functionality, and practicality added to the use of advanced production techniques. All of the manufacturer products are a testimony of these values, as well as the very practical solutions for folding chairs, the stacking of many articles, and the use of washable shockproof materials.
The Design is the protagonist of Area Declic products and it is something that the company has always felt strongly about and has developed with a group of young designers. In order to renew its product portfolio and in order to structure the in-house design, Declic Area has promoted the ONLY FOR WOMEN International Design Award: a competition dedicated exclusively to women designers, which was first presented by the company in 2009. On one hand, the unexpected success of the initiative has evoked the lack of the few opportunities offered by industry to the creativity of women but on the other hand, it has made the company proud to have promoted it.

Sensitivity and different experiences work together on the Area Declic project: the creation of functional objects, together with quality materials and elevated conceptual and aesthetic values. Design is the leader: to the basic values represented by the employment of advanced production techniques are grafted the guiding threads of simplicity, practicality and functionality.
ONLY FOR WOMEN
This is our “project laboratory”. Launched in 2009, it is a competition exclusively for women designers. Over four hundred projects have been put forward, involving over two hundred and fifty designers from thirty two nations: these are the numbers for the first year of ONLY FOR WOMEN.
A solid and unexpected response that, if on the one hand it illustrates the emptiness of the few opportunities offered to women’s creativity by industry, on the other hand it makes us proud to have promoted this initiative.
