Silent Design

The work of the swedish designers Linus Berlund und Mats Seitz
  • 'Silent Chair' is the name of the reserved chair created by the Swedish designers Linus Berglund and Mats Seitz. And it is in fact above all the inconspicuous but ingenious little details which ensure that the Silent Chair is much more than just an everyday piece of furniture. Very much in the tradition of Scandinavian design their creations are characterised by a clarity of form, transparency of design and a high standard of craftsmanship which ensures a quality finish.

  • The Gray Cabinet by Linus Berglund is a restrained alternative to the classical bookcase. The principle of vertical drawers which are familiar from metre-high storage cabinets provides it with well organised and space-saving room for six metres of paperback books – turning the Gray Cabinet into a kind of mini archive.

  • The Wedge clock and the fabric cover for an external hard disk demonstrate Berglund's training in graphic art technology: The material and the craftsmanship involved are derived from the bookbinding trade.

  • Mats Seitz developed his 'Lamp' standard lamp on the model of those surveillance cameras which make an almost human impression with the way they can move their heads. In combination with the matching sofa, for which Seitz is by the way still looking for a suitable manufacturer, the effect is a striking one.
