Take one part Georgia O’Keefe painting, one part modern architecture and blend them together with the intention of washing your hands when you’re through. Et voila behold the freestanding Kalla sink from Mastella Design, along with its countertop counterpart, the Kallashort. These sinewy white washbasins snake upwards, unfurling into delicate, lily-inspired bowls not dissimilar to the petals of a flower opening up to the sun.

The receipt to get a bathroom furniture with this unique shape is everything but easy and immediate, so we discussed with Mr. Antonio Mastella, founder of one of the most important brand for the high quality of the Italian style bathroom furnishing: MastellaDesign, founded in 1984, has been doing unsurprisingly well ever since. Let’s discover – in a chart of 7 - where and how they got the ideas for the materials usage and how the inimitable Italian taste influenced their inspiration and the shapes for their creations.

#7) Take inspiration from the past, from the nature. Be orientated towards a bright future
Edgar Degas, one of the most famous exponent of the French Impressionism, has chosen to depict women in the bathroom, when they were intent into the rituals characterizing the “toilet moments”: while they were soaping legs or drying hair, siting on the edge of the tub. An intimate and daily moment, that enhance the shapes of the women into a sensual atmosphere. That representation of “wellbeing” nowadays became symbolism of a real furniture for the bath-fashion-room. Creativity, research, innovation, quality and design fuse to create collections which lend themselves perfectly to the total bathroom concept and make it possible to express the lifestyle of those who live in the house. The made in Italy interprets this spirit, attentive to quality which anticipates fashions and grasps the suggestions of contemporary living.

Versatile bathtubs then, which other then the freestanding versions, can be recessed in the wall or floor. Born from a mould that includes the recess and the floor, then, depending on the demand, the sides can be modulated. It is also possible a reduction in length in centimetres.
