Design Contest 'Dining Outdoors'
Whether you're in mid-career, just starting out or still studying – it's the idea that counts! In the design competition launched by the 'Garden Unique' outdoor fair on the occasion of spoga+gafa in Cologne the challenge is to develop new, surprising, simple, sophisticated, clever, inspiring product ideas relating to the theme of 'eating and drinking in the open air'. It may on a picnic in the countryside, in the garden, on the terrace of restaurant or at a sidewalk cafe: eating together is always a special situation which makes a wide range of demands on product design. It also has many and varied manifestations and rituals in the world's various cultural areas.
If you are a designer, interior architect or architect or if you're training to become one, this special and very open competition is an ideal opportunity for you, because the projects of the three winners will have the advantage of being produced as prototypes and then presented to international manufacturers from the industry at the 'Garden Unique' fair in September. In addition each of the winners receives a prize of €1000.
The format of the competition is also interesting: ideas are to be submitted via www.jovoto.com, where they will be assessed not just by the prestigious international jury (Marc Sadler, Milan; Patrick Nadeau, Paris; Herbert Seckler, Sylt; Marcus Fairs, London etc.), but also rated and commented on by the public. The feedback received also enables projects to be developed further and optimised. The winner selected by the public receives a prize of 3,000 €, with a further €8,500 being distributed to the next 15 entries which are placed.
The competition period has been extended to 21 June 2012, so it isn't too late yet!
