Fair Review: CERSAIE 2011 Bologna - the leading international exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings

Cersaie 2011, which took place in Bologna at the end of September, once again put on a fascinating show thanks to the intrinsic diversity of ceramics as a material, combined with new developments in bathroom design and innovative bathroom fittings. Architonic was there on your behalf and - along with our extensive Facebook photo series - we can now provide you with a report from the exhibition togethers with a selection of our discoveries.

In its 21st edition, Dubai's INDEX Exhibition gave us an impression that the financial crisis of 2008, which unexpectedly but severely affected the Middle Eastern emirate, seems to be a thing of the past and that Dubai is on the road to recovery on a less speculative and more realistic level. Located on the emirate's northern coastline, the glittering, glass-cladded Dubai City is itself an ultimate, extravagant showcase of emirate's financial power and sky-high ambitions, with both architecture and interior design being the prime examples of this particular penchant for infinite luxury.

First launched in 1990, INDEX is the only important fair in the Middle East serving as a window and giving an outlook on the increasingly important markets such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Bahrain and the booming Saudi Arabia. With this image gallery, we present our photographic account of the omnipresent opulence and eclecticism of the show. Enjoy!

Moscow Design Week

Earlier this month, we have been invited to attend the second edition of Moscow Design Week. The event, organised by Art Trading Group, focused on introducing the international, particularly Italian, design to the Russians and the Russian market through a series of special projects and installations by an array of industry heavyweights such as Giulio Cappellini, Li Edelkoort, Ingo Maurer, Gilda Bojardi, Ron Gilad, Jacopo Foggini and Giulio Iacchetti.

The Russian design was represented on a relatively smaller scale, by the Russian twin sister design duo, SashaDasha Design who presented their recent works alongside the graphic design exhibition curated by Sergey Serov titled 'Rodchenko 120' realised on the occasion and celebration of the 120th birthday of the founder of constructivism, Alexander Rodchenko.
