David Underwood's central thesis on the architecture of Niemeyer is that it "proclaimed a new Brazilian aesthetic based on the physical geography of Brazil and the suggestion that 'form follows feminine.'" This rare chaise, designed during Niemeyer's one burst of proclivity towards furniture design in the 1970s, epitomizes the architect's love of curves.
