Cappellini's new flagship store has just opened in the 7th arrondissement in Paris, n. 242 boulevard Saint-Germain. Located in an area that hosts the most prestigious design brands, Cappellini presents its ever-present icons and new collections on two floors within the 200 m2 showroom.

As in the other Cappellini showrooms throughout the world, one colour dominates the whole area, if it is red in New York, blue in Los Angeles and fuchsia in Miami, the backdrop to the collections in Paris is purple. Purple, a colour often used by Shiro Kuramata who has designed several pieces in the Cappellini catalogue, perfectly reflects the energy deployed by the brand since 1946 to propose new ways of living in tune with the times. A scene that embodies the inherent dual spirit of Cappellini offering excellent design products that are, at the same time, instruments for the art of living naturally.

Museum shop
The first part of the showroom exhibits some of the brand’s icons that are presented as museum artworks, products that have already become part of the history of design. Among these there is the Rainbow Chair by Patrick Norguet, the Pylon Chair by Tom Dixon, the Proust Geometrica armchair by Alessandro Mendini, the Revolving Cabinet and Pyramid by Shiro Kuramata, the Mr. Bugatti chair by François Azambourg and the Wooden Chair by Marc Newson..

A dynamic atmosphere
The second area of the showroom and the basement level have been envisioned as living rooms alternated with dining areas. Here we find the modular Sistemi fixtures whose various lacquered colour combinations evoke a dynamic and lively atmosphere. The Magic Carpet rug collection warms the area and again the different pieces by Giulio Cappellini, Marcel Wanders, Nendo, Jean-Marie Massaud, the Bouroullec brothers, like the Cappellini brand itself, are an expression of a happy, contemporary and unconventional design.

Giulio Cappellini
*Milan, 1954
The Milanese architect has worked since 1979 with the spirit and the aims of a man in continuous renewal. Over the years, his work has turned to be the designer’s one, proposing a personal reading of contemporary design, both for the brand bringing his name in the world, and as art director of other important design brands. His more important project, the “company”, transformed Cappellini into one of the biggest “trend setters” worldwide. Big interest is always present for his lectures at the Milan Architecture University, at the Domus Academy and worldwide, from Montreal to Valencia.
