Stig L. Andersson, Landscape Architect Maa., Mdl.

Founder and Creative Director of SLA. After his graduation from the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1986, he travelled to Japan with Japaneese ministerial research funds. Stig L. Andersson was particularly interested in the Japanese culture’s relationship to substance, space and changeability – fields he has integrated and developed in his own practice since 1994.
Beginning as a (pure) landscape architectural practice, it has developed into a interdisciplinary organisation working with landscape, urban spaces, analysis and urban planning called SLA A/S since 2004. Alongside the practice Stig L. Andersson has furthermore worked in the field of art as a member of the group ‘Kammeraterne’ and with a number of exhibitions.
Stig L. Andersson has continually worked closely with researchers and universities. In 2002 he was awarded the Eckersberg Medal for his work.

SLA’s approach is founded on a philosophy, which seeks to optimize cross-professional and trans-disciplinary collaboration. Through their projects, SLA seek to combine unique artistic vision with democratic processes involving users and clients, in an effort to provide solutions that reflect a scientific understanding of how physics, geography, climate and resources interact with the human experience of space
