Stokke chair de GUBI

Jens Quistgaard designed the Stokke chair in 1965. With its tapered cylindrical form, the chair is not on-ly original in its expression, but also in its construction. Assembled without screws and brackets, the form is held together by inner tension, inspired by the sails on a ship. Designed at a time when rosewood and dark furniture was fashionable, the Stokke chair quickly became popular. Gubi’s relaunched Stokke chair is as close a replica of the original design as pos-sible. However, it is now manufactured in black-stained oak, making it better suited to today’s modern home.
