All Boox bookcases are handmade and thoroughly tested in terms of quality in Jesper Holm’s workshop in Copenhagen. Choose between 12 different colours and wood species that have all been treated according to old traditions with natural plant oils and soap. They age beautifully, ensure a good indoor climate, smell nice and have a long life. The Boox doors are made with great precision and make the veins in the wood form a geometric pattern. This technique requires great experience and builds on a long craftsman tradition. Handles for doors and drawers are handmade and designed to accentuate the sloping front edges on the bookcases. Boox are not mass-produced, and you will not find them everywhere in offices and institutions. Everything is handmade; this is not perfect industrial furniture. Every piece of furniture has its own personal touch.
Boox designer cabinets are high quality
Ordinary bookcases are made of thin plates. The Boox bookcases are made with 28 mm corpus sides. The Boox bookcase can take up to 100 kilos, whereas just five kilos make other bookcases bend. Ordinary bookcases’ fittings are placed in the wrong way so that all the weight is on the top of the bookcase. Boox has patented fittings that are placed correctly, in the corpus sides so that the weight is distributed directly from the cabinet, and onto the wall. The Boox designer cabinet modules are very strong and durable. We have never seen that a cabinet has fallen to pieces. The drawers are genuine cabinet maker drawers, hand made at the workshop in Copenhagen.
Boox does not come with a number of holes for shelves; the shelves are mounted by the help of a fancy but completely hidden track system. If you need to move the shelves, this is easily done. The holes made by the lists are very small – smaller than the ones that you see on ordinary bookcases.
