Secrets Of Linen in a nutshell
“Secrets of Linen” handtufted rugs are the brain child of the Belgian linen producer Nv Jos Vanneste who has long been promoting the exceptional properties of linen yarns, particularly in the context of flooring. With decades of knowledge and experience "secrets of linen" is using only the best quality wet spun linen yarns in their rugs which avoid shedding, give along-lasting durability and have a fantastic sheen. Thus our rugs have become a unique blend of luxury and comfort, of elegance and of down to earth practicality.
Linen rugs are soft ,yet strong and durable. The more it is used, the softer and stronger it becomes. Linen rugs are thermo regulating (insulating in winter time, cool and breathable in summer time), they can absorb up to 20% of their weight in moisture before they feel damp, and they easily release moisture to the air to remain cool and dry to the touch. Linen creates a healthy environment. It is non-allergenic and anti-bacterial. It is comfortable, stylish and anti-stress.
"Linum Usitatissimum" is Latin for "most useful linen". For ten thousand years man has known this gentle gift of nature as a source of textiles with special properties : soft to the touch, rich colour absorption, lasting durability, and unrivalled comfort. Being an inherent strong plant linen requires a fraction of the pesticides and fertilizers used for the cultivation of cotton. Its processing into fibre, yarn and carpet respects the environment, as it is a purely mechanical process. Thanks to the expertise of European Industrialists, the process of flax and linen is very eco-friendly. The "secrets of linen" collection is made in Belgium by a member of the "Masters of linen" and "Belgian linen" community.
