Now, as an undisputed world leader, MAISON&OBJET is expanding its reach into the fastest growing markets in the world. The inaugural Asian show was held in Singapore last March, and in May 2015, MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS is coming to Miami Beach. With a population of 954 million, this vibrant gateway to the Americas will be the perfect host. What’s in store? A very selective gathering of 250 hand-picked exhibitors, both local and international, in a format that promotes interaction and the opportunity to discover the latest trends.

For this first Americas edition, we are very pleased to honor as Designer of the Year the internationally acclaimed Brazilian designer, Zanini de Zanine. An awe-inspiring ceremony will be held at Frank Gehry’s breathtaking New World Center to present both the Rising American Talents and Designer of the Year to guests from the realms of real estate, media and design.
A native of Rio de Janeiro, Zanini de Zanine began working with wood under
the tutelage of his father, the celebrated Brazilian architect and designer,
José Zanine Caldas.

His maturity of vision and obvious talent afforded him the opportunity to work with some of the most respected names in Brazilian architecture and design, including Sérgio Rodrigues.
He began producing furniture and sculptures using salvaged and reclaimed hardwoods, and in 2005, he began to create a new line of industrial using materials such as plastic, acrylic and metals.

He quickly garnered some of the most prestigious design awards in Brazil and abroad, including IF and IDEA Brazil, along with major exhibitions of his work. Zanini has already collaborated with such international powerhouse brands such as Cappellini, Poltrona Frau, Slamp and Tolix.
Hailed as a breath of fresh air in the new world of art design, Zanini de Zanine embodies the very best essence of Brazil.

The spirit of MAISON&OBJET has always been unveiled through the Rising Talents section of the show and Miami Beach is no different. Seven auspicious talents from the US, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Brazil will show their inspirational and innovative work.

MAX GUNAWAN // USA WEST COAST
Based in San Francisco, Max Gunawan, who was born in Jakarta, spent ten years as an architect before creating Lumio, a studio dedicated to multi-functional, everyday objects.

LUKAS PEET // CANADA
DAE graduate Lukas Peet, based in Vancouver, navigates seamlessly between object design, public space and graphic design. Acclaimed as ‘future classics’ from design critics, he refers to his own creative process as “refi ning a ‘Canadian’ aesthetic”.

LEO CAPOTE // USA EAST COAST
Growing up surrounded by the objects in his family’s hardware shop in São Paulo, for Leo Capote the most banal screw or nail or hammer is transformed by his hands into raw materiality, revealing an exploration into design as art.

DAVID POMPA // MEXICO
Contemporary design with traditional Mexican craftsmanship, David Pompa’s interdisciplinary studio based between Mexico and Austria sets out not just to rethink Mexican artistry, but reinvent it through technique and ideas.

CRISTIÁN MOHADED // ARGENTINA
Currently living in Buenos Aires, Cristian Mohaded vacillates between product and interior design, while his passion for materials and experimentation guided him to research new shapes and forms.

CASEY LURIE // USA EAST COAST
In 2012, Casey Lurie established his eponymous studio in Chicago, but only after spending three years in Tokyo at Idée, the leading furniture manufacturer in Japan, where he learned to employ traditional craft with innovative methods.

RAMON LASERNA // COLOMBIA
Summing up his work as design, photography and kinetics, Colombian Ramon Laserna fuses movement into his work. With Alexandra Larsen, he created “&LAR”, which focuses on local craftsmanship and technique.

May is Miami Museum Month. Five of Miami’s most respected museums will be celebrating MAISON&OBJET and offering free admission to visitors and exhibitors, including the Pérez Art Museum (PAMM); the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA); the Wolfsonian (Florida International University); the Lowe Art Museum (University of Miami); and finally the Bass Museum of Art, which has extended its current exhibition ‘One Way: Peter Marino’ to accommodate fairgoers. The Miami Design District is celebrating both the launch and the anniversary of MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS first with a multitude of showrooms creating their own programming during the fair, and also hosting a cocktail party in the newly completed Palm Court Plaza.

For the first time in the iconic city of Miami Beach, MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS unites the most talented players of the world of interior decoration and design. Bringing together excellence, innovation and emerging trends, MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS is partnering with numerous cultural institutions and galleries, with events taking place all across Miami Beach. Come and preview the very best of lifestyle design, culture and innovation.

The hot new area of Ironside is presenting lectures, hosting cocktail parties, exhibitions, and special events. Tours will take place, giving guests an insider view of the history and future expansion projects, while showrooms and studios will open their doors to visitors.
As one of the world’s largest design/office campuses with more than 60 exquisite showrooms of interior design products perfect for any upscale home, yacht or commercial project, DCOTA will welcome MAISON & OBJECT attendees at a series of special events. Three buses will be running to and from DCOTA and the Miami Beach Convention Center throughout the 4-day show.
