After taking the Wuppertal-Dornap exit, you drive along a cobbled road through a little forest until you get to picturesque Lüntenbeck Castle. A perfect idyll! The most fascinating thing of all, however, is just inside the gateway to the castle courtyard on the right: the lovingly restored estate farm has been home to Dinnebier Licht for decades. Everything here is about precision, classic craftsmanship – and special requests!

"We welcome special requests; in fact, anything is feasible," says Daniel Klages, Managing Director and the creative mind behind the hand-crafted lighting enterprise in the Bergisches Land region. "We take a flexible approach to clients' requests and produce customised luminaires in an extremely short time." The experienced experts at Lüntenbeck Castle make sure of that.

The result never fails to impress. The fact that the beautiful luminaires bring light to the spaces as well is almost a side effect. "First and foremost, we see light as a design medium that harmonises exactly with the space," says Daniel Klages. "We're not satisfied until the two elements combine to form a perfect whole." For the specialists behind the Licht im Raum brand, light scenography, reflective surfaces and visual comfort are all part of their day-to-day vocabulary. And have been for more than 50 years.

The foundations of the Licht im Raum brand were laid in 1956 by Johannes and Lisa Dinnebier. Lighting design was still in its infancy. The firm's first spectacular installations were created in collaboration with architects and artists in the early 1960s. Every one of these important projects helped establish the company as a leading name for light. In the meantime, ingenious lighting ideas from Wuppertal are exported all over the world. And the Lüntenbeck craftsmen are just as dedicated to traditional production methods as ever. Thanks to the background planning and passion it puts into every single commission, Licht im Raum has beamed itself into the aristocracy of the lighting sector. As the old saying goes: noblesse oblige!
