A jewel among sweetshops.
The first Zurich shop of chocolatier Vollenweider from Winterthur is meant to be a setting for exquisite confectionery and the ladies who sell it. In the centre of the room, which is decorated in a range of chocolate colours, stands a showcase designed by Studio Hannes Wettstein, which rises like a polished block from the black marble floor. The rear wall made of anodised aluminium is reminiscent of the cover of a box of chocolates. Behind it is the back-office area, from which the sales staff emerge as from behind a theatre curtain.
