    Masa Table Frame

    New Tendency

This project was completed by designer and stylist Sarah Van Peteghem (the writer of the blog Coco Lapine Design) for Fantastic Frank, a Swedish real estate agency with offices in Stockholm and Berlin. The apartment for this project was located in Schoeneberg, Berlin and had the original ornaments on the ceilings, which were paired up with the functional and minimalistic furniture of New Tendency.

Their designs have a very clear aesthetic and functional form, which contrasted nicely with the delicate ornaments and the white waxed floors of the flat. In both the kitchen and the living room you can see their iconic Meta side table, which with it’s versatile design can be used in the living or bedroom (or in this case also in a niche in the wall where normally a fridge should go). The kitchen was made out of old flight trolleys, which makes it look very unique I think.

In front of the blackboard the Masa table was paired with two &Tradition chairs and on the wall you can see two Palm prints photographed by Sarah.

In both rooms the New Tendency Shift shelf was placed, which consist out of modular elements. They can be stacked on top of each other without screws and moved horizontally. On the shift shelf in the kitchen you can see the Plug Lamp by Atelje Lyktan and above that the Paris elevations print by Studio Esinam. Staying in the french theme, in the living room a vintage map of France was hung up and the Meta side table was used as a bar. On the chair you can see a Mountain pillow, made by Berlin based Icelandic design couple Markrun and above that the ‘Scratched’ calendar for 2015, designed by Sarah.

The Teesta rug in the living room and the blanket on the sofa are from Urbanara. These soft wool fabrics give the room a softer feeling against the grey volume which serves as a walk in closet. The workspace brings a playful element into the room with the Buk legs from Normann Copenhagen, which I combined with a vintage bentwood chair.

Sarah finds it important to always include green in a styling as it makes a house a home. Therefor, in the living room she used a rubber plant, which with its dark color contrasted well with the soft fabrics there and in the kitchen she used a Chinese evergreen plant in combination with Basilicum and a palm.
