Venetian Blinds von Ann Idstein

Since the late 90’s, transparent horizontal slats have become an important part of the Venetian Blind collection. The slat material is plastic (fully recyclable). Due to the rather translucent qualities of this material, they often provide for an interesting lighting, allowing light to flood in even when the slats are tilted and the blind is shut.

Ann Idstein carries aluminium blinds of many different types. In the 1980’s, Ann Idstein also started mixing components from wooden blinds with aluminium slats. By adding wooden components to an otherwise rather sterile aluminium blind, an interesting new aesthetical dimension opened up. The possibility of combining existing materials from the collection has always been an essential part of Ann Idstein’s product development philosophy. Aluminium slats are available in widths of 16, 25, 35, 50 and 70mm. The main colour program is developed for 25 and 50mm wide slats.

Ann Idstein is one of few remaining manufacturers who produce wooden blinds “from the log”. Wooden logs are shipped to the production facilities, where a 15 step manual production awaits them. It is real craftsmanship from the very first visual judging of how to cut each individual log up until the final assembly of the blind. Because the entire production process takes place in house, there are few limitations as to what can be manufactured. For instance, slats are available in widths of 25, 35, 50 and 65mm and some types of woods allow for production of blinds around 3meters in width.

The slats are only 2mm thick and treated with a semi-matt lacquer, giving them a beautiful finish. Other surface finishes, including oil for wet environments or even flame retardant lacquer according to B1 standard are also possible. In our own paint shop, slats can also be coloured according to the RAL or NCS-scales or to match a customer samples. Over the years, Ann Idstein has supplied custom coloured blinds for many of the world’s most exclusive yachts, cruise ships and hotels due to this rather unique expertise.
