Blending city leisure areas and furniture into urban natural green spaces: new opportunities with the Trapecio bench and its two solid pine wood blocks.
Despite its two big double-joint trunk like wood blocks, this large bench takes on a simple light-weight aspect. Designed by Periel and Montes, the architects, the idea of the large bench stemmed from their search for unique and original urban landscaping elements that would incite you to new ways of resting and communicating.
Its size and the lay out of its two blocks suggest different ways of using and enjoying it.
The Trapecio was not designed to be a classic ergonomic bench, but rather as a simple and large resting seat to lean on. Made of genuine pine wood, it blends in totally with the landscape allowing passer-bys to rest unhindered. "We have the will to research new materials in order to manipulate, reinterpret and tame them for designing a bench. There are two beams, two parallel lines condemned to grow only in length, to stretch to adapt to bigger dimension scales, adding elements in an infinite way." (M. Periel y A. Montes)
