The wayney edge of a piece of wood is the irregular outer rim found closest to the bark or the top of the trunk. Traditionally, this is the worst cut of wood and is often discarded or burnt. The Offcut stool is a clever design that makes use of these scraps of oak wood, which we believe is the most textured and interesting part of the tree. The stool’s elementary form is the result of several innovations; the circular round seat makes clever use of the curved offcuts, its construction requires no additional screws or glue, and the stool is flat packed for ease of delivery.

Waste not want not. The most beautiful part of the tree, the offcut, (an irregular piece found next to the bark) is typically thrown away in wood production, so we have designed this bench to make good use of it. The Natural version is made from oak and treated with soap the traditional method of finishing wood whilst the fluoro version is made from birch. The rough parts of the log mean that each piece has a unique character, what’s more, it comes flat packed and can be assembled without screws or glue.
