Low-environmental impact, bendable panels that can be used for numerous types of radius applications. These panels are composed of a hardboard face panel and a ‘kerfed’ particleboard core. The face panel is made from FSC certified eucalyptus fiber hardboard and contains no added formaldehyde. It is produced from trees grown in accordance with sustainably-managed forests. The kerfed core is 100% recovered and recycled fiber and contains no added formaldehyde. The entire panel is NAF (no added formaldehyde) certified and can contribute to LEED credit points for MR 4.1, MR 4.2, and EQ 4.4. The surfaces allow for normal fabrication methods of attachment to a rigid structure and then application of a face material. The panels are designed to bend down to a 10 in (254 mm) radius prior to lamination. The hardboard face easily accepts adhesive so additional treatment to the face is not necessary. It is possible to laminate a single-ply veneer or other thin materials directly to the hardboard by use of a cold or hot press prior to bending. This process will result in a very stable panel with a bending radius of 16 to 18 in (406.4 to 457.2 mm). Applications are for curved architectural panels to be used for walls, ceilings, reception areas and other high quality panels.
