Since 1998, Colect promotes Belgian design furniture. What first started as selling Belgium design furniture in the “B” shop in Bruges, Belgium, evolved over a decade in designing and producing Belgian design furniture.
Today Colect has become a reference for production and marketing of high-quality, contemporary conceptual furniture from reknowned designers. Colect relies on experienced professionals, a proven production process and a wide international dealer network. As a graduated interior designer, Katrien Van Hulle has a passion for conceptual design. However, what is conceptual design without being able to elevate the living experience to an art? Reflections that Katrien Van Hulle discussed daily in the late 90’s with the people entering her “B” shop for Belgian design furniture in Bruges. The insights Katrien Van Hulle gathered through these discussions with customers and designers started her quest to create conceptual design out of functional need. The production of “table for tools”, a co-design of Katrien Van Hulle and Siegfried De Buck, was her first answer to this quest.
While designing and producing “table for tools”, Katrien Van Hulle added material and material handling know how to functional need and conceptual design.
The success story of “table for tools”, followed by the creation of “b-ar” and “b-artable” led to increased craftsmanship in production while successfully deploying a sound sales and marketing channel. First in Belgium, with England, Hong Kong, Australia, U.S.A, Israel following swiftly.
The natural evolution of Katrien Van Hulle’s followed path combined with her passion for Belgian design brought her with Colect where she is today: attracting other gifted Belgian designers and propelling them successfully onto the international conceptual design scene.
