Design District is the best trade show for interior design in the Netherlands. On May 21-22 and 23 more than 150 top manufacturers and designers of interior design present their latest products to designers, architects, interior architects, retailers, facility managers and other trade show visitors.

The event has been known as 100% Design (in Rotterdam) for years, but was renamed Design District 3 years ago and is now held at the unusual venue Hembrugterrein in Zaandam. At this location, from the late 19th century until 2003, in top secrecy, ammunition production and testing took place, and was therefore a strictly no-go zone. The area contains 120 structures of different building styles, 50 of which are listed as national monuments. These provide a great backdrop for Design District 2014!

You will find only the best of manufacturers and designers at Design District. Participants and their products are specifically selected for their quality and innovation. Many new products are launched at this event, or shown for the first time in the Netherlands after being presented in Milan or Frankfurt; plenty of inspiration to cover home-, office-, and project design, lighting, bathrooms, materials, floors, textiles and outdoor furniture!

Design Studio Vandaag presents ‘Sparkle’ at the Design District. Sparkle is a series of shuttle lamps equipped with shades made of synthetic veneer. Their design is such that you are tempted to walk around them to experience their glittering lighting effects.

The JEE-O soho shower is the first product of collaboration between JEE-O and the Amsterdam based design studio Grand & Johnson. The complete soho-line (in addition to the outdoor shower), an oval bathtub, bath tapware, freestanding wash basin and taps) will be introduced at Design District!

Following on from their presentation in Milan, the newest collections by Fritz Hansen can be admired at Design District. The new table Analog™ has been especially designed by the famous Spanish designer Jaime Hayon for Fritz Hansen. They will also present a new version of the iconic chair by Arne Jacobson called The Drop™ .

In addition to the considerable exhibition by almost 150 participants, it is also possible to visit substantive programs in the building next door. These are organised by CRISP stylistes, FMN, bni and VIA.

Especially organised for visitors who are too busy to visit Design District during the day, the event will be open on Wednesday evening May 21 – until 9 pm. On the night, you will be able to witness the presentation of the District Awards while you will enjoy free fingerfood and drinks between 19.00 and 21.00 hrs.
