Tom Schönherr (1954), Designer, lives and works in Stuttgart. Tom Schönherr’s career is very closely linked with the rise of modern German design. After studying at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, years at frogdesign followed. 1987 Tom Schönherr founded together with Andreas Haug Phoenix Design in Stuttgart – already two years later the opening of the Tokyo branch followed. Since the company’s foundation to this day Phoenix Design has won more than 300 design awards, among them repeatedly the design award of the Federal Republic of Germany. 1998 Tom Schönherr and Andreas Haug have been awarded the coveted “Lucky Strike Designer Award“. This award honours outstanding and internationally successful designers. Besides his commitment as a juror Tom Schönherr gets involved in the promotion of young talents among others in the course of university workshops, at the “Mia-Seeger-Nachwuchspreis (Mia Seeger Junior Award)” as well as at the Phoenix Academy. Phoenix Design’s range of services includes Brand Design, Design Strategy, Product Design, Interface Design, Design Consulting and Advanced Design. Among the long-term and economically very successful clients are Axor, Duravit, Gira, Kaldewei, Lamy, Laufen, LG, Sharp, Siemens, Viessmann and, leading the way, Hansgrohe and Loewe – and the design makes a substantial contribution to the development of these strong brands.

Philosophie
In terms of a holistic concept Phoenix Design offers innovative brand manufacturers strategic consulting, classic product design, in-house model building and since 2006 interface design from one source. Tom Schönherr and Andreas Haug, founders of the Phoenix Design Studio, are convinced that it is their expertise to develop products which increase their brand value by uniqueness and allow adding high value by long-lasting product cycles.
