Sandblasting is the most versatile form of etching glass. Effects range from simple frosting, which can incorporate etched logos, patterns and graphics to more complex deep carved, three-dimensional work. Subtle effects can be achieved using hard and soft lines, semi-tones, layering and a variety of textures. We have designed and created a wide range of sandblasted commissions as well as realising clientÕs specific designs.
Production capabilities
Using our extensive sandblasting facilities we can work on large production runs as well as more complex commissions. Panels can be produced in any size up to 3m x 5m (118 x 198Ó) and in any thickness. We can sandblast all types of glass: flat sheet, curved, annealed, toughened / tempered, laminated or kiln formed, from decorative carved work to standard textures and finishes.
Polymer protection
For most applications we protect our sandblasted glass with a polymer coating, applied to seal and protect the surface. The polymer is applied to the porous sandblast surface and bonded at a molecular level to form a protective barrier against dirt and scuff marks. Where the glass becomes dirty or marked, the glass can be easily cleaned with a soft cloth and warm water.
Artwork
In order to sandblast a design on to glass we use a variety of stencils ranging from computer and hand cut vinyl to screen printed and photographic stencils, depending on the detail required. This in turn will dictate the format of the artwork required. We can design or generate artwork to clientÕs specifications, alternatively artwork can be supplied by the client or the designer.
