One of the first members of the Taliesin Fellowship, Howe was proficient in the principles of organic design as specified by Wright. The Howe house was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and John Howe in the mid-fifties, and Howe designed this dining set for the house when it was built in the early 1970s.
