The architect and designer Stefan Zwicky was born in Zurich in 1952. After training as a visual marketing designer, he completed his university diploma in the specialist course for interior design under Willy Guhl at the Zurich School of Applied Arts. He was subsequently employed by Peter Daniel Bernoulli and Studio Olivetti in Milan among others. In 1983 Stefan Zwicky opened his own studio in Zurich focussing on architecture, interior design, exhibition design and furniture design. Since then he has been involved in many renowned exhibitions and building concepts and developed both furniture and lamps for de Sede, Seleform and Interactive light among others. He is active as a publicist – in 2005 he was joint editor of the Swiss Furniture Encyclopaedia – and teaches as a guest lecturer in Basel and Düsseldorf. Stefan Zwicky is the organiser of the largest design platform in Switzerland, “neue räume” (new spaces) in Zurich. He is one of the best-known Swiss designers.
