Denz AG Consistency and permanency right from the start.
A success story started in Zurich in 1968. Albert Denz took over a number of Swiss agencies for German office furniture manufacturers. It was of course the founder who was primarily responsible for establishing the company philosophy: The most important aspect is the added value that the customer must be able to recognise. Sustained success can only be achieved by a strict policy of customer orientation and professional planning in conjunction with perfect interior architectural concepts. It was therefore a logical step in 1974 when the company started developing and manufacturing its own office furniture. "Rondoswiss" was the name given to the company's first product produced in Switzerland. Since then, Denz's own unique style has become its hallmark: consistent and modern product design, formal and functional with long-term validity, the use of top quality materials and a high level of craftsmanship in the production quality.
The young company developed dynamically at the beginning of the 90s: Thanks to the cooperation with the designer duo Greutmann Bolzern, Zurich, the product design adopted the principle "Form follows function". For the first time, system lines such as "cre-aktiv", "easy" and "prodomo" raised the profile of the brand in the market.
At the same time, there were also complex challenges to face: First of all in the product design field, as new materials and production techniques allowed innovative and constructive solutions. Secondly, the working world began to change rapidly due to the fantastic developments and technologies in the office communication sector. And thirdly, the market demanded flexible and space-efficient solutions because of the continuously rising prices of real estate.
The result: Denz's product development turned to simple, clear lines and the modular system idea. Urs and Carmen Greutmann developed Denz_D3, an office furniture system with a modular structure as the central principle. The advantage: The system can be reorganised and adapted to the changing room situations and utilisation concepts. The system satisfies demands for durability, complex technology, ergonomics, ecology and efficiency, and represents the classic aesthetic philosophy. The design policy sets the standard for the company growth and development.
The Denz_D3 system covers nearly all furniture areas: desks, waiting and reception areas, and conference and recreation rooms. Demands for individual furniture concepts appropriate for a company's corporate identity can be satisfied by D3 with consistent clear design options: it is the only office furniture program available in the pigment colour concept developed by Le Corbusier (LC® pigment colours by kt. ® COLOR). The special features: These shades of colour, which were composed by the famous architect, can be harmoniously combined with each other. In this way D3 meets all requirements made of modern workplaces. An empirical study by the Fraunhofer Institute confirmed that "the office does not just thrive on its functional value. Instead it should aim to create an atmosphere, be a source of intangible impulses and increase the commitment of the employees" – i.e. offices should be inspiring places that encourage creativeness, motivation and concentration.
Thanks to its modularity, D3 is a design program that allows the creation of office architecture. Tasks that have further motivated and challenged the Denz employees are: an extensive and diverse full service, the planning, development and realisation of office equipment for freelancers, companies and institutes, tailored to specific people and their needs, and to the prevailing architecture and space situation.
This overall differentiation concept has allowed Denz AG to survive in a market that has been marked by poor growth in recent years. The company sees the potential for turnover and profit in further rationalising the production processes, in a targeted approach to the Swiss market – such as the newly designed subsidiary in Gümligen/Bern in central Switzerland – in the export business and especially in further innovative product developments.
