About cor sitzmöbel

History

In 1955 Prince Bentheim Tecklenburg and Leo Lübke began manufacturing upholstered furniture in Rheda-Wiedenbrück under the name of COR - Latin for heart. This was because three hearts embellished the coat of arms of the founders. Barely a year later it was honoured with the first of many awards - the march of COR into the nations homes had begun. With the swinging sixties came Conseta, the seventies Trio, the eighties Zyklus and today Clou, Sera, Pando, Zelda, Arthe...

1954
Autumn 1954: the "Upholstered Furniture Factory" is founded by Leo Lübke – in the name of his son Helmut Lübke – and His Highness Prince Adolf of Bentheim-Tecklenburg. The company is registered in the name of Helmut Lübke, who takes over the reins at the ripe old age of 18 and goes on to steer the firm through 40 successful years.

1959
Michael Bayer designed an upholstered seating unit which consisted of 5 elements and therefore was called "QUINTA". It was the first modular programme of this kind, allowing for entirely new and flexible interior design.

1964
In 1964 F. W. Möller designs the greatest success in COR’s history: Conseta, one of the world’s first modular furniture programmes.

1969
In 1969 sees the start of COR’s highly productive relationship with Designer Peter Maly. A relative unknown at the time, he designs the seating group Trinom.

1970
In the seventies Orbis, designed by Luigi Colani, became one of the most successful furniture models of the day.

1972
1972 saw the arrival on the scene of Trio from Schweizer team form ag. In 1994, exactly 25 years after the first design sketch, the same designers produced a "new" Trio that successfully recaptured those glory days.

1994
Helmut Lübke handed over the reins to his son Leo.

2000
Arthe, designed by Prof. Wulf Schneider + Partner, is awarded the “Roter Punkt” for "High Design Quality", the highest honour the Nordrhein Westfalen Design Centre has to bestow. The company now has over 200 employees.

2002
COR and interlübke open the first joint showroom in Hanover. In this flagship store the two brands are exclusively presented in a new ambience. The Scroll model wins the red dot: product design award shortly after its premiere at the international furniture fair in Cologne.

2003
After Hanover and Cologne, COR and interlübke are opening additional
brand stores in Munich, Hamburg, Berlin and Strasbourg. COR carpet marks the very first presentation of the company’s own carpet collection.

2004
A year of anniversaries. COR turns 50 and Conseta 40 this year. The classic line receives the interior innovation award in the category “best classic”. Another COR+interlübke shop opens in Berlin.
Product

COR furniture is built on a simple principle: only the best is good enough. Top quality materials, daurablility, excellent proportions and a great deal of skill are the ingredients which make true or claim. Technology has a part to play, but we rely heavily on the skilled hands and eyes of master craftspeople who loving care over each and every detail of manufacture. All this guarantees that COR furniture is of the highest quality and will have a long life.
Material

All our materials, whether leather, fabric, wood, steel or aluminium, are subject to an unshakeable demand for the highest possible quality. so everything is checked and closely scrutinized - there are no compromises.
Ecology

Economics without ecological ideals? Not for COR. In 1995, and again in 1998, we were the first company inthe furniture industry to pledge itself to taking the greatest possible consideration of mankind and nature in the manufacture of its products. To that end we use raw materials from renewable sources, look to enviromentally consistent procurement of materials and logistics, seek to avoid and reduce harmful emissions and waste, and to increase recycling. We are also part of an open forum on enviromental matters. With us "enviromental protection" is more than just a beautiful phrase, it is another measure of the quality of our beautiful furniture.
Design

Fine materials, excellent manufacture and perfect are all pointless if the product is not pleasing to the eye. So we use renowed designers who understand our philosophy of producing designs which are up-to-date but not trendy, are functional, unadulterated and independently minded, yet handsome too. It is a successful recipe which has brought many rewards, for example from the North Rhine-Westphalia Design Centre. Our pieces are modern day classics, and it is on this basis that we will continue - ever faithful to our principles, our designers and, of course, our clients.
