World-champion setting

The Allianz Arena in Munich surprises with innovative architecture and exceptional furnishing.

A giant foil roof made of air cushions encloses the oval of the Allianz Arena in Munich. The striking building with its varying illumination is one of the most beautiful stadia in the world. It can be seen for miles and in all kinds of ways, it is quite simply top-class. Even the scene of all events, the pitch, is one of the innovations featuring integrated heating, watering and drainage. The rows of seats rise high next to this exclusive domain of football. The Basle-based architects Herzog & de Meuron created a sense of spatial compression that brings the spectators close to the events.

Sporting events are increasingly becoming occasions and communicative scenes. Business networks work as well as the skilled football stars on the field. The designers of the premises took this trend into consideration for the building of the stadium. There are 2,200 business seats waiting for guests invited to Munich. Everybody who is anybody can arrange to meet in one of 106 boxes with a total of 1,400 seats. Then there are offices and conference facilities as well as spacious media areas equipped with state-of-the-art technology – something which will be essential in this year’s World Cup which is being held in Germany.

Companies working on an international scale also use boxes in the Munich stadium. For example, Audi which stylishly furnished its box with flooring by Carpet Concept. The top-quality woven carpet Net gives the floor a touch of elegant understatement. Surprising structures made of shining threads grab your attention and are individual eye-catchers. Yarns woven with stainless steel threads to form small squares reflect and illuminate in the light. The geometric clarity of the design is quite simply in perfect harmony with modern building materials such as glass and steel.

Net was combined with Tec Line in the bar area of the Audi box. The innovative material unites the qualities of a woven carpet with those of a hard floor covering. Metallic yarn woven together with a silver shimmering thread is twisted into striking structures. This means that there is a kind of metallic brilliance almost floating like a gossamer thin layer over the floor. Tec Line is refined in its quiet simplicity. Its shiny yarn reflects and breaks the beam of light, intensifying the interaction of light and shade for the striking effect of the architecture.

Twelve other boxes in the Allianz Arena exude comforting clarity thanks to the top-quality woven floor covering, Eco. A light melange makes the appearance, which emphasises the construction, noticeable. The extremely hard-wearing ribbed material and the qualities of the woven loop make Eco the perfect furnishing for modern architectural concepts.
