Profile

David Sokol (New York, 1979) is a U.S.-based freelancer specializing in architecture, planning, and product design. A former managing editor of I.D., today he is a contributing editor at Architectural Record and Greensource magazines, as well as at Surface, Cultured, and the Australian interiors journal (inside). He also regularly contributes to The Wall Street Journal's "Off Duty" section, and to Amtrak's in-flight magazine Arrive, among others. Currently, Sokol is finishing production of the book Nordic Architects: Ebbs and Flows, which will be the third compendium of Scandinavian creative professionals he has completed for the Stockholm house Arvinius. In addition to journalism, his career in writing and editing has expanded into corporate communications. Commissioned by real estate organizations, product manufacturers, and architecture firms reputed for a discerning approach to design, Sokol's work in this realm spans speechwriting, video scripts, website and brochure copy, and awards programs.
