Industrial rubber has been known since the beginning of the past century. The company of Freudenberg started the production of U seals and shoe soles in the 30s of the past century.
Dr. Nürnberger was the chemist responsible for the development of rubber compounds. The rubber floorcovering nora® was named after the Latin equivalent of his last name (Noribergensis).

At first, this was the brand name for shoe soles made of rubber until the end of the 40s. When the production of floorcoverings was started in 1949, this brand name was also used for this business unit: nora® rubber floorcoverings.
The rolls of vulcanized floorings were logically enough named noraplan®.

The production of norament® tiles in high-pressure presses commenced in 1967.

Today, the nora® brand is worldwide a synonym for top-quality rubber floorcoverings and footwear components.
