The 3D-technology makes it possible to deep-draw 3D-veneers similar to the deformation of metal sheets. 3D-veneer mouldings and components coated with 3D-veneer have a closed surface and are extremely stable due to their three-dimensionality (just like an eggshell). This excellent stability allows to choose minimum wall thicknesses and hence to build exceptionally light-weight components.
This material and the processing technology have been developed by REHOLZ®GmbH.

Processing / Technology

Usual veneers of different wood species and thicknesses between 0,6...1,5 mm are prepared mechanically to become distortable. This is the basis for 3D forming capabilities (bending in two directions). This is comparable to deep-drawing metal sheets usually applied to produce bins from metal sheets by bending the faces.
But, in comparison with metal sheets, 3D veneers become stabile if several layers are glued preferably with grains crossing (laminate wood mouldings). Moreover they can be applied as a single layer to a carrier panel, in most cases these are thin veneers.
3D veneer can be prepared for processing (gluing and packing) with usual techniques. 3D forming will be done by a moulding tool as prepared for the current forming degree.
Production

3D veneer panels designed for special products are produced in our plant in Kesselsdorf, near Dresden.
It is possible to process sliced as well as rotary cut veneers. Please submit your requirements such as moulding geometry, wood species, amount and so on.
Moreover we can offer to upgrade customer-supplied veneers (e.g special veneer images used in high end interior design).
Marketing

3D veneer - material thickness 1,15 mm: Sizes available
- max. length 2100 mm
- max. width 980 mm (can be joined to achieve widths of more than 980 mm)
- thickness 1,15 +/- 0,05 mm
3D veneers of this thickness can be applied for 3D mouldings as well as for facing 3D parts. Products are marketed by REHOLZ®GmbH. Please contact the managing director Mr. Förster.

3D veneer, material thickness 0,6 mm. Serial production will starts in 2004/2005. Appliactions are 3D edging as well as 3D facing. 3D edging veneers are marketed by Furwa Furnierkanten GmbH Walkertshofen exclusively.

3D facing veneers are directly marketed by REHOLZ®GmbH. Please contact the managing director Mr. Förster.
Qualified REHOLZ®GmbH staff is prepared to discuss the specific requirements of your application.
Technology

Beside of conventional machinery (Roller gluing machines, Packing tables. Presses with tools) 3D mouldings production requires a specific forming tool attached to the pressing tool. At low 3D-deforming degrees this specific 3D-tool might be unnecessary. REHOLZ®GmbH is offering to develop, produce and test such tools for your very purpose.

To veneer profiled 3D edges special facilities similar to usual 2D edging techniques are beeing both developed and provided for machining centers and stand-alone facilities. For further information please contact Mr. Förster.

For facing 3D-profiles panel shaped components usual membrane presses can be used equipped with additional specific forming tools. REHOLZ®GmbH will assist with experience and equipment to develop, produce and test the tools required for your mouldigns.

Prototypes and models

REHOLZ®GmbH produces first prototypes basing upon your design and using existing tools. Technological parameters are optimized on the job to be used in your serial production. Moreover moulding models reduced in size can be produced by REHOLZ®GmbH.
Research

Besides developing and producing forming tools according to customer requirements existing techniques of processing and producing materials are constantly improved and developed further. Emphasis now is on enhancing the achievable degrees of material deformation. Moreover we accept your inquieries to find solutions for special applications developing appropriate processing and construction variants.
