The patented process was developed at the Danish Technological Institute 10 years ago and involves heating and softening of hardwood cants of moisture contents of 20-25%, followed by a longitudinally compression in a special horizontal hydraulic press for folding of the cell walls of the hardwood.
This structural change makes the following bending much more easy even in cold condition. Furthermore, the finished products or components may be bent in more than one plane and in small radii of curve.
